Anabaptist Hideout

In Trub, near the border to the canton of Lucerne, numerous dairy farmers professed their Old Evangelical-Waldensian faith as rigid Anabaptists. This was a thorn in the flesh of 16th-century authorities, who had the Anabaptists persecuted.

The only Anabaptist hiding place still open to the public is on the Hinter Hütten farm in Trub. Thanks to the thorough research of minister Paul Hostetter and the Fankhauser Family, the exhibit provides insight into the history of that time.
